New fitness equipment to help create a healthier Bellinge
Date:2013-11-13
BELLINGEN is about to become a healthier community with the installation of specially designed outdoor exercise equipment at Connell Park.

Situated alongside the children's playground and barbecue picnic shelter, the six-piece exercise trail is movable and interactive.

It boasts cardio workout and resistance training features such as rowing machines, cycle seat and cross trainer.

The equipment was installed by Council with the support of the NSW Office of Communities - Sport and Recreation, with the objective of providing facilities to support the health and wellbeing of residents.

Mayor Mark Troy said the equipment is suitable for teenagers through to seniors.

"The equipment will provide a cost free facility for those looking for a new and innovative way to exercise," he said.

"This set is stage one at Connell Park with additional pieces of equipment planned for installation in 2014.

"Leading an active lifestyle is important no matter what your age or fitness ability and the new equipment is part of Council's commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles for all members of the community.

"A similar open space fitness centre in Coronation Park at Dorrigo has proven very popular with plateau residents."
